Alpha C.K. Art Gallery presents the new solo exhibition of the artist Thekla Papadopoulou. The exhibition titled «TRACES | ΊΧΝΗ» is her fourth solo exhibition and the opening ceremony will be on Friday, April 5 at 7:30 pm.

The new series of works is the artist, her life, and the people who accompanied her and surround her in the course of time. Through her new work the artist creates a lyrical narration of her life, her influences, the people she encountered and the factors that changed her as a human being, woman and artist and create a chronology that unites the past with the present, to a point, envisions the future.

Art historian Dimitrios S. Spyrou writes in the critical note of the catalogue “The recent work of Thecla Papadopoulou, under the name Trachy, is a series of portraits that continue exploring the rich and unlimited field of the genre, seeking new means of creative expression. Papadopoulou is not a painter, in the strict sense of the term, but an artist who explores and enriches the creative practice of painting, “and continues” In her portraits, skilfully applied colours of oil and pastel are combined with collages from pages of her old books’ magazine drawings and photographs of herself and her close people. The rich textured surfaces, including the human figure, point to the dynamics of unbound movement and elusive power, and reflect Papadopoulou’ distinct and recognizable approach to portraiture.”

Thecla Papadopoulou was born in Limassol in 1978. She studied at the “Rafaello” Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino, Italy. She has participated in individual and group exhibitions and international competitions in Cyprus, Greece, the United Kingdom, the United States and the United Arab Emirates. Her works are in the Municipal Art Gallery of Larnaka, in the Larnaca Town Hall and in private collections in Greece, Cyprus and abroad.
